Sony A7 mark II + 24-240mm OSS
Sony has taken the full frame mirrorless camera line to a new level with the Sony A7 Mark II. The camera features 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilisation with 4.5 stops of compensation for pitch, yaw, horizontal shift, vertical shift and roll. Operation has been streamlined with a newly designed handle, shutter button and customisable controls. The A7 Mark II also has a dust and moisture resistant design with a magnesium alloy body and a more robust lens mount. The A7 Mark II benefits from refined algorithms and better use of the BIONZ X image processor. It has an improved Fast Hybrid AF system that is approximately 30% faster than the previous model, 5fps continuous burst autofocus and a 40% faster start-up time.
The 24.3 Megapixel sensor delivers high resolution images and excellent low-light performance, with a standard ISO sensitivity range of 100-25,600. The BIONZ X image processor offers fast processing and readout speeds, and the front-end LSI improves the early stages of image processing, resulting in more natural detail and richer tones. 16-bit image processing and 14-bit RAW output preserve the details delivered by the sensor.
In addition to highly detailed photos with smooth gradations, the A7 Mark II now has access to the high bit rate XAVC S format with 60p, 30p and 24p recording options, all at 50 Mbps. The look of your films can also be adjusted with picture profiles, including the addition of the S-Log2 gamma setting with a dynamic range of approximately 1,300% of the standard sRGB spectrum. Timecode and user bit settings are available, as well as an HDMI output for a variety of recording options.
The advanced Sony Multi-Interface Shoe expands compatibility options for the flash, microphone and other accessories. The A7 Mark II is compatible with all current APS-C E-mount lenses in APS-C crop mode, as well as new E-mount full frame Zeiss and Sony G series lenses. Lens adapters with a tripod mount are also available for mounting A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras, and an optional dedicated battery grip enables stable, long shooting days and better stability in vertical orientation.
The Sony A7 Mark II is equipped with a 3 inch 1,228.8k-dot tilting LCD monitor and a 2,360,000-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. The camera also has built-in WiFi connectivity, with NFC support for transferring images from the camera, as well as remote control via paired mobile devices.
The Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS lens is an E-mount telephoto zoom lens that is full frame compatible and versatile enough to zoom from a true wide angle to super telephoto perspectives. The advanced optical design includes 5 aspherical elements and 1 ED glass element. This allows the lens to achieve high performance with reduced chromatic and spherical aberrations in a compact design. Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation produces sharper images in low light and when shooting at long distances.
An internal focus system means that only the central optical elements move during focusing. This provides faster autofocus and a shorter minimum focusing distance. The lens also does not extend during focusing and the front element does not rotate. This makes it more practical, especially when using a polarisation filter. A linear AF motor provides fast autofocus, and a circular 7-blade aperture helps you create smooth, pleasing out-of-focus highlights. Like all other FE lenses, the physical design is dust and moisture resistant.
