Sony A7R VI + FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS
This bundle includes the Sony A7R VI body and the FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS lens.
Sony A7R VI
The Sony A7R VI combines 66.8 MP with 30 fps burst in a single camera. For this, Sony developed a new Exmor RS Stacked CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR2 processor with integrated AI unit. The result is a full-frame mirrorless camera with which you capture both the highest resolution and fast action, without having to choose.
Uncompromising resolution
The 66.8 MP Exmor RS Stacked CMOS sensor has a high readout speed, which keeps rolling shutter strongly limited and makes 30 fps burst in 14-bit RAW possible. With 16 stops of dynamic range and Dual Gain, detail is retained in the shadows, even with backlight or high contrast. Pixel Shift delivers images of up to 270 MP for large-format prints and reproduction where no detail may be lost. The new RAW compression system offers three levels: Lossless Comp, Compressed HQ and Compressed, so you choose the right balance between image quality and storage space for each job.
Continuous shooting at flagship level
The A7R VI reaches 30 fps in 14-bit RAW with the electronic shutter, blackout-free. That is more than four times as fast as its predecessor, so even with fast action you have enough frames to pick out the decisive moment. With the mechanical shutter you get 10 fps in 14-bit. The AF/AE calculation runs up to 60 times per second, so focus and exposure are correct in every frame, even if your subject unexpectedly changes direction. Pre-Capture buffers up to 1 second before the shutter release, so you capture images you would otherwise have missed. With Continuous Speed Boost you switch seamlessly between 15 and 30 fps, so you save storage space during quiet moments and are immediately at full speed for the critical action. The 5-axis IBIS has been improved to 8.5 stops at the centre and 7 stops at the edge, so at 66.8 MP you also get sharp handheld images where a tripod was previously needed.
Advanced AI autofocus
Real-time Recognition AF+ recognises people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles and locks straight onto the right subject. With people, the system recognises not only the person as a whole, but also individual parts: eye, face, head and body, so even in a group you put exactly the right person in focus. If the subject briefly disappears from view, the system picks it up again as soon as it becomes visible. The new AUTO mode automatically selects the recognition type, handy when you don't know in advance what you'll be facing. With 759 phase-detection points, the AF also performs well in low light.
8K video with professional audio
For video, the A7R VI supports 8K 30p and 24p (8.2K oversampling) and 4K 120p over the full sensor width, all in 10-bit 4:2:2 All-Intra. That gives maximum room in post-production, without the compression artefacts of long-GOP formats. In Super 35 you shoot 4K 60p and 4K 120p. Dual Gain ensures shadows in dark scenes stay rich in detail where other cameras show noise. LUT import and monitor LUT show the grade directly on the screen while recording, so you already judge on set what the final result will look like. For stable handheld shots, you use Dynamic Active IBIS. Breathing Compensation compensates for unwanted lens movements when changing focus and Auto Framing automatically keeps the subject in frame, handy for vloggers and interviewers who work solo. The new Tally Lamp on the front clearly shows when you are filming. The XLR-A4 XLR adapter delivers 32-bit float at 96 kHz on four channels, separate from the video track. Thanks to 32-bit float, you never have to adjust your gain again: you correct clipping afterwards in the edit. The internal microphone has adjustable wind and noise reduction.
A completely redesigned system
The new OLED viewfinder has 9.44 million dots and a magnification of 0.9x, which gives a large, bright image, and is approximately 3 times brighter than that of its predecessor, a noticeable difference outside in the sun. The colour gamut is DCI-P3 with HDR display mode, so what you see in the viewfinder matches the end result after grading. The 4-axis LCD touchscreen tilts and swivels in all directions, handy for shots at unusual angles. The new NP-SA100 battery of 2670 mAh offers approximately 17% more capacity than the NP-FZ100, good for approximately 600 shots per charge via the viewfinder or 710 via the LCD. Charging to 80% takes approximately 55 minutes via USB-C (PD 45 W), so you top up enough capacity during a short break. Battery Health Check monitors the battery status on the camera and charger, so you're not in for any surprises in the field. The two USB Type-C ports offer USB 3.2 Gen 2 for fast data transfer and USB 2.0 for power. Both card slots are dual-format CFexpress Type A and SD UHS-II. The magnesium body is dust- and splash-proof, the grip is deeper for use with heavy lenses and illuminated buttons also work in the dark. The Σ-shaped graphite cooling chamber keeps the temperature in check during 8K recordings of up to 120 minutes continuously. The camera supports Sony's Camera Authenticity Solution including the C2PA standard, with which it can be verified that an image was captured with a camera and not generated by AI.
Sony FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS
The Sony FE 100-400mm f/5.6-8 OSS brings super-telephoto reach within every photographer's grasp. The lens weighs just 654 grams, so you carry an impressive telephoto range without your backpack getting heavier, ideal for wildlife, bird and travel photography.
Thanks to compatibility with the Sony 1.4x and 2x teleconverters (SEL14TC and SEL20TC), you extend the range as desired up to 560mm or even 800mm, for those moments when subjects seem just out of reach. The adjustable focus limiter is particularly handy when you shoot through a fence or other obstacle, such as on a zoo visit or from the stands at a sports match: the lens then doesn't have to keep hunting between foreground and background and keeps focusing effortlessly on your subject. The Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation compensates for motion blur, so you keep shooting sharp images handheld even at maximum telephoto range.
The lens is built to go wherever adventure takes you. A zoom lock prevents the lens from extending by itself while hiking or travelling, and the non-rotating filter thread keeps your polarising or ND filter always in the same position, even while focusing or zooming. The dust- and moisture-resistant design ensures changing weather conditions are no obstacle, while the round nine-blade aperture provides natural, smooth bokeh.
