Hoya 58mm HDX CIR-PL

Hoya HDX CIR-PL 58mm circular polarising filter

The 58mm Hoya HDX CIR-PL is an absolutely top-quality circular polarising filter that will continue to perform in any situation. Hoya itself even refers to the HDX series as 'Best filter performance in history' and that's saying something for a brand that has been at the top when it comes to lens filters for decades. The polarising filter is made of extra-toughened glass and, partly because of this, has 4x the tensile strength of traditional filters. The filter is specially made for today's digital market, in which sensors are more sensitive to reflected light than in the analogue era. The Hoya HDX filter features special coatings on both sides that reduce internal reflections and filter out UV casts, delivering a more saturated and sharper image. The 8-layer multi-coating on both sides of this polarising filter ensures maximum optical performance and a light transmission of as much as 99.4% (and as much as 25% more light transmission than regular polarising filters). This multi-layer coating also makes the filter water-, dirt-, and scratch-resistant, making it more pleasant to use and longer-lasting.

Finally, the mount is made of highly durable black anodised aluminium, which completely seals off the filter glass, preventing moisture and light from entering undesirably. This mount is also extra thin, so you will not suffer from vignetting, as is the case with many of the cheaper filters. This makes it perfect for use with wide-angle lenses as well.
